ON SCREEN: Back in Black and In the Budge

Back in Black – 2003. Directed by Whitey McConnaughy and Brad Kremer. Runtime: 35 minutes.

A Kingpin Production, this action based snowboard film features THE best snowboarders of their generation: Marc Frank Montoya, Gigi Rüf, Jeff Anderson, Gaetan Chanut, Zach Leach, Todd Richards, Joel Mahaffey, Chris Coulter, JF Perlchar, Alex Auchu, Tyeson Carmody, iikka Bäckström, Chris Demolksi, Jz Rasmus, Brandon Bybee, and Scotty Wittlake.

In the Budge – 2024. Directed by Airblaster. Runtime: 20 minutes.

“We invited a hungry and talented crew of snowboarders to town. When they arrived, we stole their snowboard gear. The gag was soon revealed to the snowboarders that the theft was an inside job, but we held onto their gear for the remainder of the trip. Each snowboarder was then given $500 to buy replacement boots, boards, bindings, lift tickets, and figure out travel. With the help of used gear, couches, and basements, public transportation and independent resorts with cheap tickets, the riders pulled off a productive snowboard trip. The idea was to show that anyone can start snowboarding with just $500.” Featuring riders Jed Sky, Julian Gluck, and Jeff Holce.
