We’re welcoming guests to an evening of vibrant engagement. Enjoy Portland-based portrait photographer and creator of Polaroids by Paiz, Paisley Lee, and take part in interactive activities that connect art, culture, and Portland Art Museum’s current exhibition.

Before the screening, experience a heartfelt festival celebration highlighting CFAF’s 35-year legacy of showcasing African cinema in Portland and the festival’s enduring mission. Stay for a 30-minute conversation with cultural experts and community leaders, offering insights into the film’s themes with a Q&A session for audience participation.

On an empty road in the middle of the night, Shula stumbles across the body of her uncle. As funeral proceedings begin around them, she and her cousins bring to light the buried secrets of their middle-class Zambian family, in filmmaker Rungano Nyoni’s surreal and vibrant reckoning with the lies we tell ourselves.
