2024. Directed by Jason Rosenblatt. Runtime: 100 minutes.
Over the course of a single day, the lives of innocent and not-so-innocent individuals collide in a web of misfortune and redemption. All over the city, people are making plans to change their lives — only to see those plans get derailed by others doing the same: Can Kyle steal from his old drug-dealing friend Jimmy so that he and his girlfriend can make a fresh start? When Derek, a man running away from his life by living in a van, is confronted by a violent stranger, will he make a stand or turn and run? When a young mother named Summer lets her son access the drug supply she oversees, will she take him to the hospital — even if it means losing him? Tasked with acquiring a teenage runaway to work in a brothel, will Melinda’s conscience get the better of her when she meets the eager and naive Jessica?
One thing is certain as more than a dozen characters cross paths over the course of a fateful day: The trajectory of their lives will be permanently altered.
ON STAGE:
Jason Rosenblatt : Director – While filmmaker Jason Rosenblatt has occasionally worked on professional projects as hired talent (editing two award winning documentaries narrated by Ron Pearlman and Meagan Follows) as well as co-writing the indie film Last Rampage (starring Robert Patrick and Heather Graham), he has mostly been unable to successfully answer his father’s oft repeated question, “How are you gonna make money with this?” It was after spending the better part of a decade in the soul crushing trenches of Hollywood, that Jason moved back to his home state of Oregon to see what he could make with little to no money and it turned out to be a couple dozen short films and two features as a writer and director. Sacrificing the fast in the fast, cheap or good equation, Intersection was filmed in 2015 with re-shoots in 2016 the film’s visual effects, sound design, and music ended up taking years to complete with the film premiering in 2024.
Sean Parker : Editor and Director of Photography – Portland-born filmmaker Sean Parker is a frequent collaborator of Jason Rosenblatt, and the creator/director of two acclaimed puppet series, Fogtown and Finger Feuds. He is the editor and director of photography for Intersection. His film work as a writer/director tends to be upliftingly raucous and directed toward all ages, particularly audiences who enjoy a bit of dark-humored friendly mischief. He was recognized by the Oregon Media Production Association (OMPA) with a 2023 award for Creative Innovation.
Dan Schaefer : Moderator – Dan Schaefer is an award-winning concept and storyboard artist, filmmaker, and visual consultant with over 35 years in film, television, advertising, and animation. His work spans major studios and brands—including BBC, Disney, MGM, HBO, Netflix, NBA, Microsoft, Amazon, and Nike—and he has collaborated with directors such as Gus Van Sant, Guillermo Arriaga, Frank Oz, and Tom McCarthy. Schaefer’s credits range from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Grimm, Leverage, Paranoid Park, Shrinking, Metal Lords, and Criminal. He has also directed and produced multiple award-winning documentaries that have appeared on Comcast SportsNet and PBS. His music-driven short film Highland Home—which he wrote, directed, and produced—has earned 54 awards, 19 nominations, and selections at 183 festivals worldwide.
