ON SCREEN: Carol
2015. Directed by Todd Haynes. Runtime: 1hr 58min. Rated R.
Aspiring photographer Therese spots the beautiful, elegant Carol perusing the doll displays in a 1950s Manhattan department store. The two women develop a fast bond that becomes a love with complicated consequences.
ON STAGE:
The Dickens Carolers are a group of four—two men and two women. In the true spirit of the day, all their music is unaccompanied, yet sung in four-part harmony. The Dickens Carolers began in Seattle in 1978, and has been in the Portland, Oregon area since 1985. In the past they have enjoyed extensive local media coverage including appearances on KOIN’s “Sunshine Food Drive” and KATU’s “AM Northwest” programs. They have participated in television and radio commercials and had several mentions, photos and articles in local newspapers.
