THE EXPERIENCE
Celebrate one wild year of the variety show and the launch of our indie press, Banana Pitch Press! Featuring best-of’s, performances, and interviews from some of our favorite Portland people, including:
- Musical performance and reading from Mattress
- Moth-winning storytelling from the maestro, Travis Abels
- The return of the hilarious Lindsay Baltus with a fresh excerpt from her high school notebook
- New music and videos from synth pop geniuses Reptaliens
And for the first time in Banana Pitch history, host and producer Michelle Kicherer will be performing! Michelle will be reading from her debut novella Sexy Life, Hello and joined in conversation by actress and writer Brooke Totman (Mad TV, Portlandia), including an interactive audience Q&A.
AND MORE! We’ll also be debuting our signature Banana undies, busting out some freebies, debuting local artists’ music videos, and, of course, the raffle to end all raffles.
Join us for Banana Pitch’s One Year Anniversary and benefit show for the indie press, seeking books with interesting one-line pitches. Submissions open January ‘25.
NOTE: This event will be recorded for the radio show and filmed for the Banana Pitch documentary. Get in on the action and help cheer for the camera!
ON STAGE: Banana Pitch
The Banana Pitch Variety Show features short interviews and short sets from all sorts of styles and vibes: musicians, writers, storytellers, comedians, and “other acts.” Each show is recorded and produced for the Banana Pitch Podcast, and musical highlights are featured on the Banana Pitch Radio show on Portland Radio Project.
As always, Banana Pitch loves to get a little weird, get personal and funny in the interviews, and introduce you to new stuff or a fresh version of the familiar. Guaranteed fun or your money back, questions asked.
The Banana Pitch Variety show is produced and hosted by music and arts journalist Michelle Kicherer. Her hosting style has been described as “pleasantly awkward” and “surprisingly funny.”
