THE EXPERIENCE

In The NeverEnding Story, Bastian reads a “dangerous” book and enters the land of Fantasia, where he must confront grief, loss, and apathy before he can save the day. Reading and being changed by books is a core part of how many of us grew up, and how we are raising our fantastical children. Join Books with Pictures at the Tomorrow Theater for a special Silent Reading Party followed by a screening of The NeverEnding Story; bring your favorite fantasy book from childhood or buy a comic from us at the theater.

Doors + socializing from 3 – 3:30  p.m.; followed by 30 minutes of silent reading until 4  p.m.. After the reading session, we’ll chat about what we read before the film. The NeverEnding Story (93 min) will start at 4:30  p.m.. Due to their own childhood trauma watching the movie, Books with Pictures recommends this film for tough kids 8 and up, or sensitive kids 10 and up.

HOSTED BY: Books With Pictures

Books with Pictures is a comic book store in Portland, OR. We were built from the ground up to prioritize inclusivity and diverse representation. We want to be the shop where we can say YES! to anyone who walks in and asks “Do you have any stories with someone who’s like me?” Our staff listens closely to each customer’s interests and curiosities to help open new doors.

Our mission is explicitly inclusive; we strive to be a space that is welcoming to people who love good stories without regard to age, race, sexual orientation, gender expression, or disability status. We believe that representation of diverse perspectives is crucial to our mission, and stock content reflecting that belief.
