THE EXPERIENCE
Sink into the rhythm of your breath as we connect with our earthly bodies, drawing upon the deep, ancient wisdom of nature. Hosted by Portland’s wellness experts at woo-woo, Abbie will guide us to feel into our interconnectedness, inviting us to experience what it means to use our breath as a source of relation to ourselves and everything around us. Following this grounding breathwork, we’ll transition into the powerful documentary Standing Above the Clouds, a story of intergenerational resilience and devotion to sacred land. Just as the film uplifts the voices of those standing for what is sacred, this breath practice invites us to listen inward, attune to ancestral wisdom, and tap into our own fierce love, lineage, and liberation.
ON SCREEN: Standing Above the Clouds
2024. Directed by Jalena Keane-Lee. Runtime: 1hr 25min. Not Rated.
When the massive Thirty Meter Telescope is proposed to be built on Mauna Kea, an uprising of kiaʻi (protectors) in Hawaiʻi and around the world dedicate their lives to protecting the sacred mountain from destruction. Through the lens of mothers and daughters in three Native Hawaiian families, Standing Above the Clouds explores intergenerational healing and the impacts of safeguarding cultural traditions.
After the film, sign the petition to protect Mauna Kea!
