THE EXPERIENCE

A Village for One is hosting a screening of Shattered Dreams: Sex Trafficking in America for Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Please join us to watch this Pacific Southwest Emmy-award-winning, earth-shattering film about the realities of sex trafficking in America and the lives it destroys.

The film will be followed by a presentation by A Village for One on their services for Commercially Sexually Exploited youth. Then a panel of local experts in law enforcement, state agencies, and community partners will discuss how this matter impacts Portland, Oregon, and what we as a community can do about it.

In addition: On January 11, National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, you can wear blue clothing and share photos on social media with the hashtag #WearBlueDay.

ON SCREEN: Shattered Dreams: Sex Trafficking in America

2019. Directed by Bill Wisneski. Runtime: 55 minutes.

Shattered Dreams is a documentary that examines the pervasive, dark underworld of sex trafficking in America. Heart wrenching personal stories from survivors of the illicit sex trade and leading experts reveal how vastly misunderstood and disregarded this important human rights issue has been. As hundreds of thousands of victims’ lives are destroyed by this multi-billion-dollar industry, the complex challenge of targeting the cause of this deeply embedded problem is exposed. Will increased awareness finally drive real solutions to save lives or will we continue to let this underground industry thrive in America?
