ON SCREEN: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

2010. Directed by Edgar Wright. Runtime: 112 minutes. Rated PG-13.

As bass guitarist for a garage-rock band, Scott Pilgrim has never had trouble getting a girlfriend; usually, the problem is getting rid of them. But when Ramona Flowers skates into his heart, he finds she has the most troublesome baggage of all: an army of ex-boyfriends who will stop at nothing to eliminate him from her list of suitors.

ON STAGE: Uncanny Valley Girls

Uncanny Valley Girls is a Portland band that started in 2023, when Cadence Welles (she/her, guitar, vocals) began playing tunes with Coree Hogan (they/them, drums), creating full band versions of songs she had written over the last several years. The two musicians eventually finalized the lineup with Juliet Terrill (she/her, bass) in 2024 while tracking the first Uncanny Valley Girls release. The three musicians come from a variety of backgrounds bringing musical stylings from the East Coast, West Coast, and the Gulf Coast. Influences include Screaming Females, They Might Be Giants, and Fugazi.
