Guests will be able to get a free headshot from Justine (first come, first served). We’ll have short talks and performances from local creatives. Guests will learn about Portland’s brand new local ranked-choice voting system through a non-partisan educational session. In 2022, the majority of voters in Portland decided to change the way they vote in City of Portland elections (the mayor, the auditor, and city council members). The auditor is a government official overseeing how City of Portland money is spent and making sure everything is done correctly and legally. Instead of just picking one person for each job, voters will now choose up to six candidates and rank them in order of who they like best. Onry will explain how to fill out your ballot using this new voting method, and then we will practice with a pretend election. This is a chance to gain insight into an important new civic process. This event is not partisan in nature; we are showing people how to vote using the ranked-choice process this November, not recommending any particular person or platform to vote for. Sponsored by City of Portland Votes 2024 Grant Program.
