THE EXPERIENCE

Cartoonist Jack Kent (Sketchy People, Gulls, and Minus Tide) will kick off the evening with a group drawing session of scenes from the movie. We’ll have pencils and paper; feel free to bring your personal stash of sketching supplies.

Before the film, Soothe Folk will also be demonstrating live chainstitching in the theater from a custom flash sheet with special limited-edition Tomorrow Theater designs! A very limited quantity of first-come-first-served chainstitching will be available for guests (yes, you can bring your baseball cap for stitching!).

ON SCREEN: Napoleon Dynamite

2004. Directed by Jared Hess. Runtime: 82 minutes. Rated PG.

A listless and alienated teenager decides to help his new friend win the class presidency in their small western high school, while he must deal with his bizarre family life back home.

ON STAGE: Jack Kent (of Sketchy People)

Jack grew up in Newport, OR and he loves the rain. He moved to Portland in 1999 and has since based his comic, Sketchy People, on the people from Portland. Aside from drawing three comics(Sketchy People, Gulls, and Minus Tide), Jack is also a guitarist and vocalist. His latest musical endeavor is Flawker Rawker. This is a joke band that brings the band from his Gulls comic to life. Squawk n’ Roll! Jack is a busy beaver and loves to be immersed in all things comics.
