THE EXPERIENCE
Join Portland multi-disciplinary artist and musician Ariel Bittner for a special one-night-only preview screening of her original multimedia performance Mountain Woman, ahead of its international debut at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This deeply personal, artist-built performance was entirely created by Ariel—from original music composition and costume/set design to video editing, writing, choreography, and performance. This screening is your chance to experience the work before it reaches the world stage. Following the film, Ariel will have costumes from the performance as well as set pieces as she discusses her artistic process.
ON SCREEN: Mountain Woman
2025. Directed by Ariel Bittner. Runtime:30 minutes.
Mountain Woman is a 30-minute immersive solo performance exploring the raw power of creation, destruction, and rebirth, told through the metaphor of a volcano. The work invites audiences to reconnect with the cycles of nature and their own emotional landscapes, through a sensory-rich journey that is both intimate and expansive.
ON STAGE: Ariel Bittner
Ariel Bittner is a multidisciplinary artist and musician whose artistic mediums include performance art, fiber, lighting, and paint. Her art interweaves movement, ritual, sound, and meditation—culminating in performances, installations, and outdoor creations crafted from found and recycled materials sourced from both nature and society’s discarded remnants. A trained herbalist, Ariel’s body-care products reflect her longstanding relationship with the healing qualities and properties of plants. All of her creations are made with intention for connecting to the earth.
