THE EXPERIENCE
Join us for a self-care moment, hosted by Portland’s wellness experts at woo-woo. Georgia will host a Bodyroll session, followed by a screening of the visually stunning 1966 Czechoslovakian film Daisies.
Bodyroll, an all levels dance practice, is therapeutic, cathartic, and a fun workout! This dance provides space to heal your inner dancer and enliven the Collective Spirit. The modality is rooted in somatic sensing, rolling the joints, collective movement, dance energetics, and play. This session will encompass easy to follow moves to hype an attitude of dance floor domination. Come to get sweaty, and end with your body pulsing with pure joy before the Daisies screening.
ON SCREEN: Daisies
1966. Directed by Věra Chytilová. Runtime: 74 minutes.
Maybe the New Wave’s most anarchic entry, Věra Chytilová’s absurdist farce follows the misadventures of two brash young women. Believing the world to be “spoiled,” they embark on a series of pranks in which nothing—food, clothes, men, war—is taken seriously. Daisies is an aesthetically and politically adventurous film that’s widely considered one of the great works of feminist cinema.
