THE EXPERIENCE
Come celebrate the official book launch of Choice Cuts: Disposable Camera Archives by Corbin C, a book published by Portland’s own Buckman Journal. It chronicles the photography of Portland-based photographer and filmmaker Corbin C, who will be presenting his photos and HI8 music videos, dishing anecdotes and behind the scene tales. HE WAS THERE. Leading the way is MC/Host with the most, Karma Rivera, who rose through the DIY ranks and now resonates as one of Portland’s leading musical talents. Live music provided by the quirky and entertaining Dim Wit. Special appearances by wrestlers from the NW Wrestling Alliance, the CornCon instigators, and the indie stylings and soaring vocals of James Anaïs (from Nonbinary Girlfriend). See the people snapped in the photos live, retelling their stories of Portland DIY, and how you can join the scene that may be happening in your neighbor’s backyard, and maybe someday yours! It’s pure Portland! Each ticket purchaser will receive a free copy of this incredible publication!
ON STAGE: Choice Cuts
A raucous concert in a stranger’s basement. People in the thick of a downtown Portland protest. A cat convention at the airport Holiday Inn. Choice Cuts: Disposable Camera Archive 2015-2023 by Corbin C dives into these local scenes and beyond. The book offers a lively montage of Portland, Oregon and its long-running traditions of hosting bands in homes and making space for the strange. Captured entirely with single-use disposable cameras, the photographs echo the DIY spirit of the communities they document.
Featuring selections from the book as well as deep dives into Corbin’s massive archive, including a compilation of his Hi8 Videos. Along with commentary and local trivia, the presentation on the big screen brings the magic of a basement show to the theater audience.
