THE EXPERIENCE
Join Harlan Silverman and woo-woo for an afternoon of music and reflection with live cello music and the documentary A Place of Rage.
ON SCREEN: A Place of Rage
1991. Directed by Pratibha Parmar. Runtime: 54 minutes. Not Rated.
Featuring enlightening interviews with Angela Davis, June Jordan, and Alice Walker, this essential documentary is an exuberant celebration of Black American women and their achievements. Within the context of the civil rights, Black power, feminist, and LGBT movements, the trio reassess how women such as Rosa Parks and Fannie Lou Hamer revolutionized American society and the world.
ON STAGE: Harlan Silverman
In live performance, Harlan utilizes the healing power of the cello in combination with ambient textures to cultivate a meditative experience that inspires stillness and relaxation. As the closest in range to the human voice, the cello evokes emotion with its uniquely emotive vocal quality. Relying on breathwork and his yin yoga training, Harlan gently guides the listener through each live cello meditation with a steady, calm presence.
