Co-presented by AIGA PDX, Two Chairs is a documentary that uses the humble chair as a lens for exploring questions of design, function, and existence. Following the film there will be a virtual discussion with director Natalya Klimchuk and AIGA president Ventura Castro.

A documentary that uses the humble chair as a lens for exploring questions of design, function, and existence. Through conversations with leading architects, designers, and philosophers, the film traces how an everyday object can carry meaning within art, culture, and functionality in society. How, for example, have thinkers from Heidegger to Sartre to Nietzsche used the chair as a way to talk about being, value, and the made world.
ON STAGE:
Natasha Klimchuk (Director) – Natasha Klimchuk is a film director and co-founder of Bang! Bang! Studio and Lunatum Magazine. Based in Milan, Italy, she works at the intersection of design, visual culture, and philosophy, directing documentary films that explore how design shapes the way we see the world.
Ventura Castro (AIGA President) – Equal parts executive producer and creative director, Ventura has been a force behind the scenes of the motion graphics industry for the last 15+ years. As Creative Director for NBC ArtWorks Studio, he leads the in-house agency for brand and package design across all news/documentary properties for on-air and streaming platforms. An avid cinephile, Ventura has taught at the EPFC and given talks at SCAD, SVA, and NYU.
