Arguably boasting one of the best casts of the decade—and launching the careers of Brie Larson, LaKeith Stanfield, Stephanie Beatriz, and Rami Malek, amongst others—Destin Daniel Cretton’s film is as relevant and engaging today as it was in 2013. In Short Term 12, Grace, a compassionate young supervisor at a foster care facility, helps at-risk teens. But when a new charge dredges up memories of her own troubled past, Grace’s tough exterior begins eroding.

This screening features a special pre-show performance by Portland-based composer Joel P West, who wrote the music for the film.

Pre-Show Performance (6pm)
Joel P West is a composer, songwriter and performer known for his bands The Tree Ring and Flood Coats, and his scores for Shang-chi, Short Term 12, Chef’s Table. His music has been described as “showing great emotional nuance” and “warm, richly textured, and pastoral”.
