THE EXPERIENCE

Join us for an evening with Michelle Zauner—author, musician, and one of today’s most influential creative voices. Named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People, Zauner is the bestselling author of Crying in H Mart and the Grammy-nominated artist behind Japanese Breakfast. In this iteration of our Carte Blanche series, Michelle will share a live reading from her work, followed by a conversation reflecting on her multifaceted career across music, literature, and film—from her chart-topping memoir to her latest album, For Melancholy Brunettes (and sad women). The evening will conclude with an audience Q+A, offering a rare opportunity to  hear directly from an artist whose work continues to resonate across mediums and audiences worldwide.

ON STAGE: Michelle Zauner

In 2022, Time named Michelle Zauner one of the ‘100 Most Influential People’ in the world and it’s no surprise why. The release of her critically acclaimed album Jubilee earned her two Grammy nominations for “Best New Artist” and “Best Alternative Record.” That same year, she released her first memoir, Crying in H Mart (Knopf), which hit #1 on the New York Times Best Seller List, has sold over a million copies, and remained a bestseller for over 100 weeks. The book has been optioned by MGM/Orion for a feature film, for which Michelle will adapt the screenplay and handle the soundtrack. Zauner also worked on the video game Sable, for which she provided original score; it premiered at Tribeca Film Festival at their inaugural Game Awards.

Zauner has had numerous sold-out tours at legendary venues in the US, UK, Europe, Asia, South America, India, and more—both for her music and her book. From stage to screen, she’s been on every TV program from Saturday Night Live!, to a couch guest and performer on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, to Good Morning America, and more. She’s done partnerships across genres from fashion to technology to food to beauty and beyond. Zauner released her fourth studio album, For Melancholy Brunettes (and sad women) in 2025. She is currently working on her second book.
